Chicago food and wine connoisseurs are invited to indulge in some of the finest wines and gourmet cheeses during a special wine-making event at the Chicago Marriott Downtown Magnificent Mile. Taking their chef-crafted approach to the next level, Executive Chef Myk Banas of the Chicago hotel's restaurant, Harvest Grill, is hosting this special event on October 17, 2008, from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. inside the hotel's Grand Lobby. The event is free for the public and no tickets are required.
"We're passionate about serving spectacular cuisine, cultivated only from the finest ingredients," says Banas. "Our elegant wine and cheese tasting event is a fun, enjoyable way to learn more about gourmet foods and drinks, while celebrating the future release of our new signature wine with the public."
In addition to sampling the finest wines from the Sierra Foothills, guests will enjoy an authentic wine-making session. Hundreds of pounds of Sangiovese grapes, brought by Greg Fisher of Bev Arts, will be crushed in the hotel lobby to create a new signature wine for the restaurant in Chicago.
Delightful gourmet cheeses created by hand last month during a trip to Grassfields Farm in Michigan will be served as a complement to the wines. The cheeses were produced in conjunction with renowned cheese-maker Jesse Meerman. During the outing, Harvest Grill chefs also met with local artisans, growers and producers in order to build relationships and understand the intricate operations of the gourmet cheese industry.
